The Sartorius Group is a leading international partner of the biopharmaceutical industry and the research sector. They are helping biotech scientists and engineers across the globe to develop and manufacture medications from the first idea to production.
Our second project for Sartorius involved the relocation of >90 employees to a new 58,000 sqft facility in Havant.
- 28,000 sqft production area (6 gantry cranes covering 18 production bays and various test labs plus centralized ionized water, Ethanol and compressed air systems fed to each work bay via a building wide distribution system)
- comprehensive Cat A & B fit out of 20,000 sqft of new offices and meeting facilities built on a new two story mezzanine
- 4,000 sqft customer test lab, and
- warehouse area (high bay storage and a sophisticated high density vertical storage system)
Francis Hunter were engaged early to provide the technical support to conclude the acquisition of the new lease including a comprehensive review of the base build and negotiations with the developer landlord for the provision of a day 1 and day 2 power upgrade.
The new facility provides systems essential in the manufacture of vaccines and so project delivery was essential. The fast-track programme demanded the fit-out work was procured via a two-stage tender process enabling early engagement with the contractor and ensuring long lead items were procured early into the design development stage.
The project ran throughout the whole of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic and every effort was made to maintain the programme despite issues with labour and materials. The wider project team of client, consultants and contractor delivered this technically demanding bespoke production facility and office to the highest standard.
