The Refugee Council works with refugees and people seeking asylum in the UK. It offers practical support and advice to help refugees rebuild their lives in the UK. They have been helping refugees for more than 60 years and have a thorough understanding of the difficulties facing people arriving in the UK, having fled war, torture and with unimaginable stories to tell.
The Refugee Council was looking to accommodate its client-facing Therapeutic and Integration teams in a new separate building in 2019. Francis Hunter was appointed to manage this process from initial brief taking, pre tender design and budgeting through the tender process and delivery onsite. This all involved a detailed value engineering review that allowed the required functional design and layout to be achieved, while bringing the financials costs in line with the company's expectations.
This was a major property event for Refugee Council that allowed these important teams to further improve their service offering. The initial project involved refurbishment from the original CAT B to ground, first & third floors plus asbestos removal, external repairs and upgrades.
Following on from the successful Phase 1 project, Francis Hunter was then appointed to complete the Phase 2 works for 2nd floor that allowed Refugee Council to assign the lease for its existing main office in Stratford and relocate fully to the new office space.
